Loving without clinging

Adhering to the Buddhist concept of non-attachment does not mean you have to abandon people you love. But you do need to approach your love differently, says AJAHN SUMEDHO, a highly revered monk based at Amaravati Forest Monastery.

First, you must recognise what attachment is, and then you let go. That's when you realise non-attachment. However, if you're coming from the view that you shouldn't be attached, then that's still not it. The point is not to take a position against attachment, as if there were a commandment against it; the point is to observe.

We ask the questions, What is attachment? and, Does being attached to things bring happiness or suffering? Then we begin to have insight. We begin to see what attachment is, and then we can let go.

If you're coming from a high-minded position in which you think you shouldn't be attached to anything, then you come up with ideas like: Well, I can't be a Buddhist because I love my wife, because I'm attached to my wife. I love her, and I just can't let her go. I can't send her away.
Those kinds of thoughts come from the view that you shouldn't be attached.

The recognition of attachment doesn't mean that you must get rid of your wife. It means that you free yourself from wrong views about yourself and your wife. Then you find that there is love there, but that it's not attached; it's not distorting, clinging or grasping.

The empty mind is quite capable of caring about others and loving, in the pure sense of love. But any attachment will always distort that.

If you love someone and start grasping, things get complicated; then, what you love causes you pain. For example, you love your children but if you become attached to them, then you don't really love them any more because you're not with them as they are. You have all kinds of ideas about what they should be and what you want them to be. You want them to obey you, and you want them to be good, and you want them to pass their exams.

With this attitude, you're not really loving them, because if they don't fulfil your wishes, you feel angry and frustrated and averse to them. So, attachment to our children prevents us from loving them. But as we let go of attachment, we find that our natural way of relating to others is to love them. We find that we are able to allow our children to be as they are, rather than having fixed ideas about what we want them to be.

When I talk to parents, they say how much suffering there is in having children, because there's a lot of wanting. When we want them to be a certain way and don't want them to be another way, we create this anguish and suffering in our minds.

But the more we let go of that, the more we discover an amazing ability to be sensitive to, and aware of, children as they are. Then, of course, that openness allows them to respond rather than just react to our attachment. You know, a lot of children are just reacting to our saying, "I want you to be like this."

The empty mind - the pure mind - is not a blank where you're not feeling or caring about anything. It's an effulgence of the mind. It's a brightness that is truly sensitive and accepting.

It's an ability to accept life as it is. When we accept life as it is, we can respond appropriately to the way we're experiencing it, rather than just reacting out of fear or aversion.

Archan Sup Brohmano love charm amulets

Been receiving good feedbacks from people who had used Archan sup amulets. Archan sup had made many charming metta and love amulets to his disciples and people since he was ordained. Many people had experience good love and wealth luck from his amulets. This time, I will introduce some more special amulets made by Archan Sup Brohmano.

Archan sup Mae TaKian amulet

(Front view)

(back view)

This is a mae takian female spirit amulet and made by Archan sup.The special ingredient added in by Archan sup is the mae takian tree powder.

(Takian tree)
These are tall forest trees. They are of course not fit to be grown in a limited house ground. Beside, such big trees are believed by the people to be abodes of tree spirits. There are two kinds of spirits that reside in the trees. One kind is a male spirit half "phi" half thevada or god, and the other is a female spirit like the wood nymph. The former, as surmised from the tree cult usually resides in a big tall tree, the wood of which has no economic value, while the latter resides in a tree which supplies economic wood or fruits. Even today people in outlying districts will not dare to cut down any big tree for fear of the tree spirit residing in it. Even in felling a tree of smaller size, the people will first make an offering to the spirit to atone for the offence made. A very big and very tall tree of the kind which the people believe to be the abode of the spirit will not be felled at any cost. In the old days when certain big trees were required for the making of the traditional royal barge or posts for the tall roof of a royal pyre, an offering was made and a royal proclamation was read to the spirit under the tree before it could be cut down. This was a wise practice to preserve big trees of the forest from wanton felling by the simple folk.

The Takian tree in the particular is a very well-known one where a female spirit has her habitation. She is known as "Nang Takian" or Lady Takian. In the imagination of the people, Lady Takian usually takes the form of a beauty maiden who sometimes makes a wailing and piercing sound when the tree, her abode, is felled. A female spirits residing in this tree.

Many Thai people believe in the power of the mae takien tree and even touch the tree wishing for windfall luck and love luck.

(Thai people praying and touching the takien tree)

According to Archan sup, the mae takian tree powder is known as magical thing that has super power protecting from bad things and evil. The mae spirit can help in both love and good windfall wealth luck.
Made only limited pieces due to the little amount of mae takian tree powder.

Wisakha Bucha Day

Pattaya City gets ready to celebrate Wisakha Bucha on May 19

Pattaya, Thailand -- Pattaya City is making preparations for Buddhism‘s most important festival, Wisakha Bucha Day, May 19, 2008, (the anniversary of the Lord Buddha‘s birth, enlightenment and entry into nirvana, or paranirvana, to be precise) by holding a Meditational Run and Procession.

The activities will focus on observing the five Buddhist commandments and refraining from all vice. There will be collaboration between Pattaya City Council, clubs, societies and the people of Pattaya to celebrate the event. Activities will start at 4.30 pm, with sixty Buddhist monks being invited to pray for the auspicious ceremony, with a dedication to His Majesty the King on the occasion of his 80th birthday. After the prayers and a sermon at around 5pm, athletes will start a Meditational Run and Walk.

The winner will receive a trophy and any participants who reach the finish line will receive a sacred coin and a Dharma book, to be presented by Mayor of Pattaya City. There will also be a Buddhist ceremony afterward at around 6.30 pm

In addition, all participants and Buddhist monks will join in procession to walk from Pattaya Hill Public Garden to Chai Mongkol Temple, where the procession will circumambulate (circle) the temple three time, with each carrying flowers, three glowing incense sticks and a lit candle in silent homage to the Triple Gem, i.e. Buddha (the Great Teacher), the Dhamma (the Truth) and the Sangha (the community of followers).

This triple circumambulation ceremony will be repeated at all the wats (temples) throughout Thailand and is a marvellous opportunity to make merit. Wisakha Bucha (or Puja) Day, falls on the full moon of the 6th lunar month. Agriculturally, it is the season of seeding and ploughing, and on this day the workers leave the fields to participate in the circumambulation ceremony. Shortly after transplanting is completed, the rainy season, with its annual monsoons, arrives to inundate the farmland. Daily rainfall refreshes the fields and much of the family's time becomes occupied with the holy Rains Retreat (Phasa in Thai), observances.

During the annual, three-month Rains Retreat, Buddhist monks remain in their monasteries overnight. In a tradition which predates Buddhism, in Ancient India the monks gave up their itinerant habits and instead remained in permanent dwellings, avoiding travel across fields so as not to tread on the young plants In deference to popular opinion, the Buddha decreed that his follows should also abide by this ancient tradition.

This marked a movement towards a more permanent, communal life and the establishment of Buddhist monasteries and temples, especially in countries to which the young religion had spread.

Phansa (lent) is a time of spiritual practice; a time to emulate the Buddha. Specifically, it concentrates on Bhavana (meditation) or development of the mind, working from a base of morality (Sila), together with the development of concentration (Samadhi) and mindfulness (Sati). This practice enabled Siddhattha Gotama to become a self-awakened Buddha and many of his noble disciples to become Arhats.

Accordingly, ever since it has been the period, when the monkhood becomes more spiritual vigorous, meditating, studying and teaching more. It is also the time young men enter the monkhood to become temporarily ordained and receive spiritual training, to gain merit for themselves and their parents, and achieve maturity, after which marriageable girls will regard them as fit persons to marry.

The Buddhist ordination is a mixture of religious solemnity, merit-making and boisterous celebration, reflecting a Thai belief that the three most important events of a man's life are his birth, ordination and marriage. Socially, the ordination of the young novice-monks is an opportunity for the whole village to join in celebration. Village monks represent the presiding chapter and act as preceptors. Villagers gain merit and they and small children accompany the tonsured, white-robed candidates for monkhood in a lively procession to the monastery, marked by joyous dancing and deep beat of long drums.

Laymen, too, during this traditional holy season, attempt to be more conscientious in following the Buddha's precepts, renouncing hard liquor, cigarettes and other vices, and try to be better people and donate both financial and physical support to their local monasteries.

Help victims of Myanmar disaster

On 2 May 2008 tropical cyclone Nargis hit the coast of Myanmar and devastated large parts of the low-lying delta region of the Irrawaddy River. Winds exceeded 190 kilometres per hour as the storm ripped through the Myanmar’s biggest city Yangon (estimated population 6 million) for over than ten hours. Homes were flattened, more sturdy structures damaged, trees uprooted and power lines downed. In rural parts of the country up to 95 per cent of all homes were destroyed.

This is a situation that the country has not dealt with before and the scale of the needs is clearly massive. Casualty figures continue to rise. The data that is currently available to the International Federation suggests that up to 1 million people might have lost their homes.

Tropical cyclone Nargis has devastated large parts of the mid-south of Myanmar. Casualty figures
continue to rise. At the launch of this appeal, latest reports indicate 22,000 people killed, 41,000 people missing and millions affected. It is a huge disaster by any measure.

No one knows how many are now homeless, reports CBS News correspondent Barry Petersen. Estimates range from 90,000 and up. Hundreds of thousands of people are without clean drinking water, said Richard Horsey, a spokesman in Bangkok, Thailand for the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
The disaster puts the government's credibility on the line, as general anger could build if relief efforts are not accelerated. There was little sign of official efforts to repair the damage in Yangon, but the worst-hit areas were in the countryside, now inaccessible by road because of storm damage.

The cyclone was the greatest recorded natural disaster in Myanmar, also known as Burma, since a storm killed 2,700 people in 1926.
The government had apparently taken few efforts to prepare for the storm, which came bearing down on the country from the Bay of Bengal late Friday. Weather warnings were broadcast on television saying that winds could reach 120-150 mph and tides could rise as much as 12 feet above normal levels.

Stanley: There is a Buddhist saying," Ability to save a life is worth more than anything else."
Do help the victims of the Myanmar disaster. Our good deed is to help support them to survive and help them to help themselves as soon as possible.
In general, we should support the poor, the disabled people, the aged, and those who suffer from natural disasters like a flood, big storm, earthquake, fire or so on. We can support them by sharing food, shelter, clothes, medicine and other necessary things.
This is a way of doing merit in Buddhism, and in return, we receive a great deal of merit.
Do Follow your heart, have compassion and donate now for Myanmar Relief.

Lord Ganesha miracles and amulets

Year 2008 is the year of the rat , which many Thai people believe that wearing a phra pik Ganesha amulet will bring them luck and success for this year. It will also serve as a good start for the year of 2008. The rat serve as the vehicle for the lord phra pik Ganesha.

Ganesha — the elephant-deity riding a rat — has become one of the commonest mnemonics for anything associated with Hinduism. This not only suggests the importance of Ganesha, but also shows how popular and pervasive this deity is in the minds of the masses.

The Lord of Success

The son of Shiva and Parvati, Ganesha has an elephantine countenance with a curved trunk and big ears, and a huge pot-bellied body of a human being. He is the Lord of success and destroyer of evils and obstacles. He is also worshipped as the god of education, knowledge, wisdom and wealth. In fact, Ganesha is one of the five prime Hindu deities (Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva and Durga being the other four) whose idolatry is glorified as the panchayatana puja.

Significance of the Ganesha Form

Ganesha's head symbolizes the Atman or the soul, which is the ultimate supreme reality of human existence, and his human body signifies Maya or the earthly existence of human beings. The elephant head denotes wisdom and its trunk represents Om, the sound symbol of cosmic reality. In his upper right hand Ganesha holds a goad, which helps him propel mankind forward on the eternal path and remove obstacles from the way. The noose in Ganesha's left hand is a gentle implement to capture all difficulties.

The broken tusk that Ganesha holds like a pen in his lower right hand is a symbol of sacrifice, which he broke for writing the Mahabharata. The rosary in his other hand suggests that the pursuit of knowledge should be continuous. The laddoo (sweet) he holds in his trunk indicates that one must discover the sweetness of the Atman. His fan-like ears convey that he is all ears to our petition. The snake that runs round his waist represents energy in all forms. And he is humble enough to ride the lowest of creatures, a mouse.

How Ganesha Got His Head

The story of the birth of this zoomorphic deity, as depicted in the Shiva Purana, goes like this: Once goddess Parvati, while bathing, created a boy out of the dirt of her body and assigned him the task of guarding the entrance to her bathroom. When Shiva, her husband returned, he was surprised to find a stranger denying him access, and struck off the boy's head in rage. Parvati broke down in utter grief and to soothe her, Shiva sent out his squad (gana) to fetch the head of any sleeping being who was facing the north. The company found a sleeping elephant and brought back its severed head, which was then attached to the body of the boy. Shiva restored its life and made him the leader (pati) of his troops. Hence his name 'Ganapati'. Shiva also bestowed a boon that people would worship him and invoke his name before undertaking any venture.

Archan Maha Tana Lersi amulet Testimonial

I got a ton of email these days, some percentage of it was from people asking me for advice, and some percentage was from my friends and clients giving me good feedback for the amulets they had wore.
One such cases was the Archan Maha tana Phra Lersi with Salika which had gotten many positive Feedbacks.
Archan Maha Tana himself had mentioned with deep confidence and faith that the owner will be able to see result in 3 to 5 days times and amazingly, some of my friends and clients had already experience the good effect after wearing it.
I've decided to include and post a few of these positive feedbacks in my blog.

(Front view)

(back view)

Good relationship with people

Raymond (Not his real name) was a normal person who worked in an office as a consultant where most of his colleagues were female. He was naturally shy and introvert and the girls in the office seldom communicate with him.
After he had wore this Archan Maha tana lersi for 3 days onwards, he dropped me an email and mentioned to me that he was very happy and words could not express the incredible day he had experienced today while wearing his amulet to work.

Raymond mentioned that the most noticeable effect is the impact on all social aspects of his life with others and it seemed to erase personal space between people. Raymond said:" Woman in my office who I seldom communicate with suddenly approached me and started to tok to me. They will be very talkative, they'll welcome eye contact, smile when you smile and will even lean against you. This is so Astounding!!!" He even said that his boss(a guy) in his office also responded to him, treating him with more deference and respect. Literally, everyone responded.

Raymond added:" Even when on my way out for lunch, some of the people in the street will just looked at me and smiled, others will even come and ask me for road directions. More people were apt to stop and talk with me for a longer period of time than usual. I also felt chattier and a need to do be more social with others (both men and women). This was the first time that I had gotten so much responds and hits from people. I'm serious, all this stuff never used to happen in my work or in my life. Anyway this is so great."

Raymond now is a strong believer of Archan Maha Tana Phra lersi amulet and he wore this amulet everyday with even stronger faith.

Increase interpersonal good luck.

Daniel Ho(not his real name) had been unempolyed for 4 months and needed a job to feed his wife and 3 years old kid. He went for many job interviews but was unsuccessful. When he met me, he told me his life was full of setbacks and obstacles. I recommended him to wear this Archan Maha tana Phra lersi.

3 days later, he called me and told me that he was amazed that within 3 days after he wore the amulet, he could immediately experience a different in his life. Daniel said:" My life was full of obstacles but ever since I wore this Phra Lersi amulet, the obstacles have reduced SIGNIFICANTLY! My life sailed even smoother now:"

Within 3 days, one of the company called Daniel and ask him back for a second interview, which at that point of time, he was wearing this Lersi amulet. He went for the second interview with a positive attitude and was instantly hired.

I was also told by him that his life started to improve more following that. He ended the phone call by saying to me:" Stanley, my heartful THANKS for your invaluable help and advices. You are GREAT!"

Improvement in business, fortune and sales.

Joanne Lim ( real name) was from Petaling Jaya, Malaysia. She was a sales representative for her company but her sales performance was bad.

After she wore this Archan maha tana Lersi for two weeks, she emailed me and said" This Lersi amulet is truly amazing! Simply superb! GREAT business opportunities keep coming to me and my sales profit has risen. Luck seems to be on my sides these days. In my life, I had never strikes a luck in gambling lottery, but I experienced the most joy and excitement when I won a small sum of money last week! It is not about the money but the positive luck which made the difference. A BIG THANK YOU TO YOU STAN!!!"

I wish for everyone who had wore this Archan maha tana Lersi with Salika the best of luck and may your life contiuned to be even smoother in the near future.

Celebrating Songkran in Thailand

April is the month of the Songkran festival (April 13 - 15)

Deriving from the Sansakrit language, the word “Songkran“ means to pass or to move into. In this context, the meaning implies to the passing and the moving of the sun, the moon and the other planets into one of the zodiacal orbit. And the Grand Songkran Festival which falls on the Aries indicates the new era of the Thai New Year.

Owing to the ancient Indian belief, the Grand Songkran Festival is most appropriate to be the Thai New Year due to the timing of the best season which is known as the spring of India which comes right after the cold season of winter. Also, there are other aspects supporting this belief such as the blooming flowers, the fresh atmosphere of the nature and the livelihood of all the living creatures.

With the great influence from the Indians, the Songkran Festival portrays the typical ways of life of the Thais which involve the agricultural aspects. Free from their regular routine work, the Thai citizens will find time to perform their annual rites of showing respect to their ancestors. The highlight of the festival will include the younger Thais paying respect to their elders by sprinkling their hands with scented water. And in order to welcome the New Year, the celebration will include the delighted colourful local entertainment which, in fact, suitably unite the mutual relationship between members of the family, the society, the nature and surrounding. Therefore, this Songkran Festival has proved to be the most important and grandest festival of the year.

"Wan Chai"(the day of offering)
On this day, apart from preparing new dresses to wear, people will make desserts to offer to monks and to give to friends and relatives. This act of generosity is also a way to show off each familys cooking skills.Well-to-do families will make a large amount of desserts to give away to others. In the past it was not possible to buy desserts since everyone made their own. Nowadays, some Thais follow western traditions by buying and giving cakes to others, as it is more convenient to do so rather than cooking.

Offering food to monks
On the dawn of the first day of the incoming year, people will prepare the best varieties of food to offer to monks. They will also dress up in their best attire. After giving alms bowl to monks, monks will eat the offered food in a temple hall. People will go home after monks finish their meal.

Making sand pagodas
There is no specific date for making sand pagodas. It can be done on any days close to Songkran in temple grounds or on riverbank. People in Kamphaengphet province also make offerings to monks on riverbank. People in Nakhon Si Thammarat build their sand pagodas twice; first in a temple on the last day of the outgoing year, and then in the grounds of their houses on the first day of the incoming year. Sand used for building pagodas is often taken from riverbank.

Releasing birds and fish
This tradition began long time ago and it is normally done during the Songkran festival. Before the festival, the weather is usually very warm and there is not enough water in ponds and rivers for fish to dwell, as a result, people will go out to catch fish in dry ponds. Small fish which can not be eaten will be kept at home until Songkran when there is more water, and then they will be released back to their natural habitat.
This tradition has evolved over time and is widely practiced nowadays. At present, in addition to fish, people also free birds as an act of merit-making.

Bangsukun Atthi
Apart from releasing birds and fish, there is also a ritual performed by monks to the relics of the dead in order to pass on merits to them. This ritual is known as Bangsukun Atthi. It will be performed once during the Songkran festival on any of the three days. In the past, Thais did not bring ashes of the dead back home, but the remains were buried under the Bodhi tree in a temple and monks would be invited to perform the ritual there. This ritual is believed to be local and is not influenced by Indian traditions because the Indians usually discard ashes in water source, especially into the Ganges.
In some areas in Thailand, people also perform a rite to worship guardian spirits of the village and town. In Central Thailand, household choirs such as gathering firewood and fetching water are prohibited during Songkran, and these choirs must be done beforehand.

Song Nam, Rot Nam, and Sat Nam
To bathe a Buddha image, people will first make an offering of flowers, candles, and incense sticks to the image. Then they will sprinkle lustral water signifying bathing onto the image as a gesture of respect.
A procession of the Buddha image will be made prior to the bathing. After that people will also bathe a Buddhist monk, usually the chief monk, by pouring over him lustral water. The chief monk will change to the new robe offered to him by laymen, then he will give a sermon and bless people who attend these bathing rituals.
Besides, people will also call on elders and respected ones to ask for their blessings. After that, people will play by splashing water at one another. A feast in the temple grounds will follow. Traditional desserts will be served there.
The Songkran festival is very much related to water, since people believe that water splashing will induce abundant rainfalls in the incoming year. Water is also a symbol of fertility and is used to clean up bad things. As a result, water is used widely in different ceremonies and rites of passage.

Rod Nam Dam Hua
People in Northwest Thailand conduct the bathing ritual to the elders and respected ones on New Years day. Apart from flowers, candles, incense sticks, and new clothes, betel nuts, Acacia water, and traditional perfume are also part of the gifts presented. Betel nut is a symbol of respect and hospitality. In the old days, Acacia water was used as soap. Once the elders receive the gifts, they will sprinkle the Acacia water and the perfume on top of the youngs heads to give them blessings.
Nowadays, some people still bring their new clothes and personal belongings along with other ritual objects, such as banana, sugarcane, and jackfruit leaves, to the temple so that Buddhist monks can sprinkle them with holy water in order to purify the clothes. These clothes and objects will be kept untouched for days for auspiciousness.

Ready to get wet

Known as the 'Water Festival', The hallmark for the festival, of course, has long been the tradition of water throwing. Everything from a courteous sprinkle or polite splash to a well-aimed bucket helps participants articulate the good-natured festival fever. It's a practical and mostly welcome solution to the sweltering dry season heat.
However, there's a much deeper meaning to Songkran beyond getting drenched. Most Thais in fact head home for its duration, to enjoy a break punctuated by religious ceremonies amongst family.
For them it's a time to express thanks to those they respect, loyalty to ancestors, an awareness of family and social responsibilities and their religious devotion - as well as get wet.

Everything from Buddha statues in streets to temples and houses gets a renewing wash; meanwhile anything old or unused is thrown out (believed to bring bad luck).
They perform bathing rites for monks, and engage in pious activities like giving alms, Dhamma practice and listening to sermons to rinse the spirit clean, to wash away the previous year's bad actions.
They sprinkle water on parents and elders, and shower them with gifts.
Thais believe that bad luck or evil is washed away by water, the person purified, and the pouring of a small amount of holy water on another person's hand or shoulder, confers respect and goodwill. Elders in return wish the youngsters good luck and prosperity.

Biography of Archan Sup Brohmano

“Archan Sup Brohmano” was born in Saraburi province. His mother is the local people in Hin-Kong and his father is the local people in Koraj or Nakornrajasima province. “Archan Sup Brohmano” has 3 relatives, he is the elder brother.

Archan Sup Brohmano’s personalities are very quiet, he's willing to live alone.
When he had to go to school, he did not but he always went to the temple.
At that time everyone nearby him would like to know the reason, “Archan Sup Brohmano”only told them that he would like to learn the above skills that no one know. “Archan Sup Brohmano” knew one of the senior monk or luang tar. (in Thai we call senior monk, much more older than junior monk or the same age as grand father as “Luang tar”.)

He saw luang-tar did the magical drawing (tattoo) to the disciple and he would like to learn from luang-tar and asked luang-tar to teach him. Firstly, luang-tar did not allow Archan Sup Brohmano to learn the magic because he was too young just only grade 2 in school, finally, luang-tar said that if he can remember and do the morning and evening pray, which are very long lessons, luang-tar will teach the magic.

“Archan Sup Brohmano” really would like to learn, so, he tried to remember all and he was able to do and present to luang-tar, luang-tar was surprised and told that Archan’s fortune is written by above world and they willing archarn born to learn these subjects. Then luang-tar taught him but he has just a little while per day to learn.
He thought that he really would like to learn more, he planed to go with another monk, which is luang-tar’s student too but this monk learnt all already and prepared to go around to do pilgrimage.

He is luang-pee Dum, which is Khamer. Archan, in that period before monk he was novice, asked luang-pee Dum, luang-pee Dum can see strongly intension of Archan, luang-pee Dum allow Archan to go with him. At that time, Ar-charn just only 9 years old. Often that luang-pee Dum asked Ar-charn that “did you think of your family or your parents?” Archan replied “I also thinking of them but I need to learn first.”

2 years later, when Archan was 11 years old, luang-pee Dum need to come back to see luang-tar to do the spirit of teacher given by luang-tar but he cannot because he afraid that everyone will complain that he took Archan away. Archan said that “we really needed to go back to luang-tar, no worry, you go first, I will follow.”

When Archan Sup reach his territory, his mother and father was so pleased and willing him to stay with them. Archan Sup explain all the reason to his parents, finally, his parents understand him and allow him to go, also give him the pocket money.
Then Archan traveled to Kamer to learn with his father’s teacher in the magic field of glamour, which can make everyone love and help the one who carry this magic. He also learnt another field of sorceries for a year.
After that, he went to Laos and learnt with the hermit call “Tar-fire hermit” (in the meaning of fire eyes). This hermit taught him a lot about black magic of changing the surround thing to be the power, depend on his need.

Hermit also taught him about how to live and use the medicinal herbs. Archan was also be taught about hermit rules, which call “charn 19”, which is the hardest one. This lesson looked like to test Archan . At that time, Archan was only 13 years old, he needed to walk and pray 108 rounds, sit and pray 108 rounds and lay down and pray 108 rounds and the strong rule is, not allowed to sleep.

Whenever Archan can do all this, the hermit will teach him more in sorceries. Archan passed it and learnt more with hermit about how to make the magic chaplet. Finally, hermit sent Archan to Burmar to stay with the elder in there. His name’s “Make”.

Archan was 15 years old then and learnt more about the the magical drawing and another field of spirit of ghost to change and build to be the useful servants. Elder Mek said to Archan that the one who try to play with the spirit need to be careful because if there’s some mistake, everything will be destroy you.
This very challenge Archan and he success in this. There is another field of the magic of glamour but the monk and novice are not allowed to learn, only normal people (non-monk, non-novice status) can. Then Archan finished the lessons, needed to leave there, he was so sad because the elder Mek was very good with him.

Archan learnt for 2 years then finished. After that, he traveled to Lopburi province to be luang-poo Hong, of Khao Hong temple, to learn more in the glamour field, which call “Na Nah Thong”, is in the meaning of golden glamour magic, the one who carry or hold this magic will be the one who everybody nearby love and willing to help with sincere heart.

Luang-poo Brohma also taught him another magic’s field as we call “Tip Pra Mon” prayed. “Archan Sup Brohmano” would like to learn more in mentality field because he met one of Tibet monk (Lama) then he went to learn in Tibet for many months.
When he came back Thailand , he found that there are more and more disciples both inside and outside the country. Archan Sup also go to Singapore for pilgrimage. Most of the people know Ar-charn as “Luang-Por-Nen” because Ar-charn stood under monk rules. When Archan Sup learn all, nothing else, he thought of “elder Mek” word that there is another one field that he cannot teach to the monk. Archan made the decision to be out of monk, became non-monk status and back to learn with elder Mek, elder Mek very glad with coming of Archan.

He spent 1 year to learn all, then elder Mek death peacefully. Ar-charn went to learn with “elder Sai” in Thern district for 1 year. Then elder Sai’s terminate time came. Archan came back to home town and build up his own hermitage called “Brohmano” on the provided land by his disciple.

He prepared all stuff that need to use in the process, at that time he did not know what’s he going to experience and he feel that he would like to try.
Next Monday’s night, he understand all what’s the mentioned process. All stuff ready ; knife, magical rope, incense, candle, flower, Batr top and plain bottle, direct to the tomb. A little bit of scary feeling occurred to Ajarn but not as much because he feel more in challenging the new thing.

It’s the body of young pregnant female. Elder Mek said to Archan that do not fear in this, use the magic rope tided the body. Archan followed then. Elder Mek bring the baby out from the female body with ask Archan to pray for both of the spirit of ghost to pass away happily.

After that Archan did the argument respective to the ghost and asked for the permit from the ghost if he was able to bring the 2 spirit and carry with him, he will take care as best as he can. After the permit asking finish, there is a big wind flow and quiet again which is the sign that the spirit of ghost allowed him to carry them happily.
When he finished these science, there’s another one lesson that he were not able to learn because it against the monk’s rules. Then Archan knew that it was the time to come back home town with fully of new skills.

Jatukam amulet fever turned on its head

Jatukam Amulet fever turned on its head
March 17 , 2008
Anyone in Thailand last year should remember how popular Jatukam Ramathep was. Walking everywhere, you would see the replicas of the dark God, which people believed would bring prosperity at times of economic slowdown.

Boosting its popularity were also the accounts of miracles in which God saved people in accidents.

But things turned upside down in less than 12 months.

On Friday, about 200,000 round-shaped amulets that carry the God in the middle were reportedly dumped near a temple in Nakhon Si Thammarat. They were scattered under trees and some were still in fertiliser bags.
It was reported that all the items made in the southern province could have fetched at least Bt200 million if they were offered at the height of the fever.

Certainly, the dumping caused fury among local people. They had a reason to get mad, given that the province was the hottest destination at the time of the fever, particularly Wat Mahathat Woramahawiharn. Buses arrived at the temple on a daily basis, and trucks were ready to upload Jatukam for nationwide distribution. Hotels there were fully booked.
Now local people believe that the traffic eventually caused damage to the ancient pagoda at the temple. This was considered one of the best places to consecrate Jatukam Ramathep amulets, as it is said to house Buddha relics.

I don't know if the damage has been fixed yet, but the province is now in focus again, although not in the way that the locals prefer.
